The game cricket started in the East African Railway in the early 19th century but it was greatly boosted by the arrival of British rule.
The game was quickly introduced in Uganda, Kenya and Tanganyika in the school level, Cricket also started with mwiri, Budo, Makerer college and Nyakasura later on Ntare School and Nabumali High School. The inception of triangular competition between the white , Asians and Goans but its appearance was exclusively black side in 1947. The side became to emerge as the African Cricket Club (ACC) In 1950.
In the 1960 the club grew up and started international Cricket. At that time Many new club grown up to the standard and proliferated to cover most of the major city in the country. For a international cricket team they selected from various club which could representation a high skilled performance.
The cricket only achieved the inheritors of the native country from the early boom of the game in 1970. Cricket Organization domained by the ACC. A few facilities met to success for the cricket which ere abandoned by Asians departed. Kampala and Jinja were few minor ground taken up and that helped to practices the game . Inter club cricket virtually reduced to intra club competition which was exits in 1960 but ACC only club which was full functioning and played regularly against each other .

UCA arranged to participated three of five Quadrangulars, which was big and praiseful effort in1980. It also depend to sustain a dying game which was organized as a annual league and knockout of the tournament.
The Cricket started to growth and took to genuine step in the time of 1990s. From the 1966 Uganda first time won the quadrangular in 1991. Coca Cola organized a mini cricket tournament between 10 schools to introduced support the game from the lower level. They became the affiliate member of ICC in 1998 by the most significant event
Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) maintain the role of promotion for the development of the game being affiliated to the national council of sports, Now UCA became the associate member of the ICC. A founder member of Africa Cricket Association (ACA). Through a lot of strategic planning and tireless effort all these has been achieved which was sacrifice by its member and supporter.
UCA became tremendous leaps and achieving the five years plan to participating in the World Cup. And the association forecast a programmed which has the national team and the under 19 teams were participated in the international tournaments
