200 Years ago Australia began to play Cricket. According to record Australia first cricket match took place in Sydney in December 1803 and the report published in the Sydney Gazette of 8 Jan 1804. By 1826 Cricket has been well established in the infant colony club including the Currency Cricket Club, the Military Cricket Club, and the Australia Cricket Club. The Venue was Hyde Park to play by those organization. Tasmania old Van Diemen’s Land is the formation of the club .In 1832 clubs formed in Hobart and Launceston in 1843 , Victoria in 1838. Then Australia became formed most exclusive and influential cricket club . A match arranged between labourers and Mechanics by Western Australia in 1835against the builders of the new Government House.
Australia Cricket started to intercolonial with a visit by cricketers from Victoria to Tasmania in the month of February 1951. The match was conducted on 11-12 February in Launceston . Before 1854 another three match played between two teams but crossing of bass strait became less attractive to Victorians and the main focus over the neighbouring colony. January 1853 these match became large crowds including crowd of 15000 at a match in Sydney. Board of control were established in the various colonies were found. New South Wales by 1857, Victoria by 1864 and South Australia by 1871.
English team first tour to Australia in 1861-62organixed by catering firm of Spires and pond as a private enterprise . HH Stephenson was the Captain. The Promoters and the Cricketers both were highly profitable for the match because the tour was popular with spectators. Next tour in 1863-64 was more successful led by George Parr.
Australian team first tour to England in 1868 , one of the batsman in that tour was Johnny Mullagh. Charles Lawrence was the captain and Stephenson’s was one of the member of the team in 1861.Jhonny Mullagh played 47 match ,winning 14, drawn 19 and loss 14.
English team took place by further tour 1873-74.
The first test match played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground between New South Wales and Victoria by 15-19 March 1877. Australia won by 45 runs mainly an unbeaten 165 by Charles Banneman. The standard of Australian cricket rising up for the result .
