HISTORY OF ENGLAND CRICKET (FOURTH PHASE)

FOURTH  PHASE

England toured in South Africa  and played three Test match in 1895-96, they won all match by resounding margins. Lehmann took 7 for 38 and 8 for 7 in the place of port Elizabeth and by a hat trick finished there. Ay Johannesburg he took 9 for 28 and 3 for 43 and in cape Town7 for 42 and 1 for 45.



          For the first test Australian captain Harry Trott made 143 runs at Lord’s when England having been overlooked and put the record of 210 with 103 by Syd Gregory , Shri Ranjitsinhiji  burst into Test cricket at Old Trafford by 62 and 154 in 1896.

Early in the 19thcentury the first Test series of England took place in
Australia in 1901-02,Australia won the series by 4-1. Arcue MacLaren  was the private venture of England side( All the matches were official test match. In  1905 five matches played in England against Australia, three match drawn and two matches won by Australia.

South Africa toured in England in 1907 and played three Test series where England won 1-0 captained by R E Foster.

England toured in Australia in 1907-08, the first Test won by Australia,  but England regained the dashes and won the second Test at the MCG. In 1909 England lost 2-1 against Australia

In the 1930 Ashes sderies dominated by the Don bradman who was 21 years old in England, in his 7 Test innings scoring was 974. The first test series of 1934 Aashes  won by Australia at Trent Bridge by 238 runs. In the series 25 wicket took by Clarrie Grimmett

One day match played England XI against West Indies and Australia in1944, England won the both match. The next year having finished in the European theatre in early may with the Second World war “Victory Test” were arranged ,against Australian service XI at Lord’s.

The visit of South Africa England’s recovered a 3-0 series  in 1947 with spirits in high scoring rubber. England team beaten West Indies 2-0 in 1948 , England team captainwas Ken Cramston. The series of 1949 England drew every Test with New Zealand.

          England beat South Africa 3-1 in a series of 1951 at the Oval One of the most famous of the ashes tour of 1954-55. Australia won by an innings and piled 601-8 ay Sydney, the second test England won a narrow victory at Sydney. In 1968 England drew 1-1 match against Australia, Australia won the first test and England won the second  test  at Old Trafford.

The World Cup was held in England in 1983 for the third time . England lost in sami final against India who won the World Cup 1983. England defeated New Zealand 3-1.



England returned to successful way by defeating Sri Lanka and new Zealand in 1991 and drawn against West Indies. In 1999 World Cup Cricket England humiliating defeated in the first round led by Stewart.
England withdrawal from the World Cup Cricket 2003 due to defeated against Australia.

England complete their 8th successive test victory on 21 December 2004 against South Africa on the opening Test at port Elizabeth. England won the best sequence of the Test match.
