HISTORY OF BELGIUM CRICKET




The game cricket was first played in Belgium by British soldier before the war of Waterloo in 1815. In the sixteenth century Cricket may be related to a game which was exported from, Flanders to England though it was the suggested by the research. The first record of cricket organization was painting and hangs in the pavilion of Lord’s Cricket Ground in Londonin 1870. 



Belgium formed their national cricket team in 1905 and they played first match against Netherlands. The match continued played until 1986 in every year. Belgium arranged a tournament as a part of the exhibition of Brussels in 1910, France , the MCC and Netherlands also involving it. Belgium lost the match by an innings against the MCC and also lost against Netherlands by 116 runs.

In 1991 Belgium achieved the affiliate member of the ICC. They started to play European tournament, ECC Trophy for the first time by 1999. The next tournament they played much better. In 2001 ECC Trophy they arrived in the semi final in Austria



In the ECC trophy inn m2003 they secured sixth place, after two years achieved  the associate member of the ICC In the European Affiliates Championship Belgium finished fourth in 2005, they also played reorganized European Championship Division three in August of 2007.They secured fifth place.

Belgium played in Division three in La manga in the 2009, they secured fourth captained by Richard Nash. In 2011 Belgium played the new ICC European T 20 Championship of 2011 Division two, they won the championship without defeated
Belgium promoted to division one by the finished a credible 7thamong the 12 team. They qualified them for the WCL by their performance. 



Belgium played the World Cricket League qualifiers match in 2012. They qualified the World Cricket League by the defeated Gibraltar, Austria and France for the first time. Sheriyar Butt and Simon were the captain of the tournament.
